Applying Financial Planning To Time Management

It is very interesting to notice how the financial planning tips that really seem to work well are also applicable to time management. And of course, as they say, time is money.

Self-time

Just as you would always pay yourself first, always take the time out to care for your well-being. We often think of time spent taking care of our health and well being as time wasted. This is not how we should think about it though because if you’re not fit, we won’t be able to do any work.

Plan well

Good financial planning is what makes all the difference between those who have their finances on order and those who don’t. If you plan your day well, you’ll find that you can manage to do all that you want to.

Investing your time

Just as you’d invest your money in different areas so as to benefit in the future, you should also invest your time in many aspects of your life like your work, health, other skills, relationships, etc.

Effective Saving

Use your time wisely. Give only that much time to things that you can do less with. If you end up spending a lot of time on relatively unimportant things, it won’t do you any good.

Charity with your time

Just as you’d do charity by donating money, you could help a lot of people by offering some of your time in order to help out. This help could be in any form. You could go work at any orphanage or spend some time at an old age home.

Time is an all-important factor that will determine how you fare in whatever it is that you do. So spend your time wisely, just as you would your money.

  2. Great post, I’ve never thought of financial planning as the same as time management… Actually I’ve never thought of both recently hehehe… There are times when spending just feels so good. I would tell myself that I would take better care of my finances only to find that I have already used them all up :|

  3. How you manage your time is important. You should always have a good balance between work, play, family, church, and so on, otherwise, you will eventually burn yourself out in one area or adversely affect other areas of your life. The same goes with managing your money. Don’t spend money on things you don’t need and plan for your future carefully. Take care of you and your family above all.
