Credit Card Or Debt Reduction?
If you’re in a dilemma as to whether to go for a credit card or debt reduction in an effort to get out of debt, it’s got to be debt reduction. Choosing to go for a credit card to consolidate your debt is definitely not a good idea. In fact, most people opt for debt consolidation because of debt caused by credit card overuse. Debt reduction is the option you should exercise.
Debt reduction amounts to you working more to keep up with your bills and earning enough to even repay your creditors. Using a credit card would only amount to more bills for you to keep up with and that would be the last thing you’d want when already in debt. The key is for you to find a way in which to reduce your debt.
There are ways in which you can reduce your debt. For instance, lets say you are obliged to pay $1200 per month collectively in debt. What you need to do is think about how you’d be able to lower this amount. There are ways in which you can accomplish this, and one such way is by finding a mortgage that will refinance your loan. This would be beneficial since it would combine your loans into one monthly payment.
You’d also be able to find loans that offer you cash back, underpayment and overpayment plans. If you search well, you’d also be able to get loans that will lump your bills into one. Combining your bills and adding them to your monthly repayment amount does this.
Keep in mind that although your mortgage, car payment and credit card responsibilities would be rolled into one payment, your utilities would be your own responsibility. So suppose you’re paying $800 per month of the $1200 towards car payment and mortgage, there may be a lender who’d reduce that to $600 per month.
To take this one step further, if you actually obtain a loan that offers you cash back, you could use that money to repay your various debts.
You should always work on lowering your expenditure. For instance, you can cut down on your groceries and utilities expenditure. As you can clearly see, debt reduction is always a far better option as compared to credit cards when it comes to getting out of debt.Â
