Is Bankruptcy The End Of The Road?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:47 pm

Credit card debt is spreading like a disease these days. It is already the leading cause of debt around and is doing enormous amount of damage to the financial lives of several people. Misuse and overuse of credit cards by consumers is what is leading to more and more debt each day. But there are ways in which you can clear your credit card induced debt.

·                    You could get yourself a debt consolidation loan. In this case you’d take on a loan big enough to pay off your credit card debt in one go.

·                    It would be a good idea for you to get rid of your credit cards immediately. Not carrying a credit card would no doubt help you since you would not have the option of paying for anything by card and so you’d cut down on your expenses.

·                    If possible, take on a second job in an effort to pay off the debt so that you can then breath easy.

·                    Your last option of course, is bankruptcy. There’s some good news though. Since the bankruptcy laws have changed over the years, filling for bankruptcy doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the end of the road for you.

The most important thing to realize after filling for bankruptcy is that you’re in a mess that you ought to clear as soon as possible and you shouldn’t slip back into it. There are ways in which to go about doing this. One such way is by applying for a secured credit card. Of course this will work our expensive for you since the interest rates you’d be offered would be much higher than earlier. This is obviously because you are now a high risk, having filed for bankruptcy. If you’re looking to apply for a home loan, in many cases, you’d be granted one in two year’s time, after you’ve shown that you have reestablished some sort of credit. The key is to convince lenders that your going bankrupt was a mistake that you’re not about to commit again.

Remember that you should take on only as much expenditure as you can handle. You won’t be permitted to file for bankruptcy in under two years from the time you did so last so be very careful with how much you spend and on what. A lot of people find the need to file for bankruptcy repeatedly since they don’t take care of their money and go back to being as careless with their finances as they were previously. Make sure you’re not one of them because if you are, you could be in for a really long and bumpy ride.

There are ways and means by which you can get your credit back on track. The single most important thing though is that you have to be thorough in how you go about doing it.
